It was a grueling drive. The three-hour layover with our friends in Knoxville helped, but the normally 5 hour trip stretched to 7 with numerous stops for feeding and peeing. It was nearly 7 when we arrived on Maple Lane, and while I was tired (and coming down with a bug), the boys were revving up. They didn't go to sleep until after 10 but thankfully Nana and Papa handled bedtime.

Stephen was in his element helping Papa build a racetrack for the assortment of Matchbox cars Great Grandpa got at a yard sale.
The boys also helped work on Nana's new garden shed.
Nana read a host of new books.
The highlight for Andrew and Stephen, however, was gettting to watch a car crusher in action. Andrew remarked, "I've never seen a real live car crusher before."
Despite being extra scaly, Matthew was his sweet self, smiling and cooing to everyone. On Saturday he surprised us all by rolling over for the first time.
Though Bobby enjoys the extra crumbs from the kiddos, I'm sure he's glad we're gone so he can catch up on some much-needed rest.
Gabe went with Grandaddy the last time we were in VA to see the car crusher as well. It was quite exciting but the funniest part was hearing him describing it to Nae on the phone. Nae thought he'd seen a terrible wreck or something. Books on tape - they save my voice hours of reading time. Gabe's newest favorite is Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle. Do you remember Mrs. Yates reading that to us?
