In Which We Celebrate Jonathan's Birthday

If you have encountered Jonathan during the past month, chances are you know his birthday was approaching.  In his loud voice, he has proclaimed to one-and-all that he would soon be turning six.

And, in order to get the most out of the day, he was up bright and early, ready to celebrate!  We didn't let him down: the obligatory balloon, streamers courtesy of helpful older brothers, and a slew of gifts.

He opened each with great enthusiasm.

There was "nearly" a breakdown when he opened a hefty box from Stephen only to discover an assortment of rocks, but he quickly recovered and declared it a good "joke."

A trip to Dollar Tree the night before and the brothers were set with their gifts.  It was mostly candy, but Andrew also purchased a pair of straw glasses that delighted the birthday boy.

We declared a Field Trip and headed to the Secret City for a look at all things nuclear - a bit over my head but the kids enjoyed the outing (which not only included lunch at a restaurant but two audiobooks: Mr. Popper's Penguins on the way there and Ben & Me on the return trip).

Then it was home for cake and camping.

All in all, a fun day to celebrate this sweet boy!
