Saturday was just too plain nice to be indoors so we took a hike instead.
Lesson One: learn to identify poison ivy.
It was as much for me as the kids. We have some in the yard and they don't seem affected; I, on the other hand, don't even look in that direction.
Lesson Two: Show some caution on heights.
I live in fear that someone will choose an ill-opportune moment
to do something stupid like shove their brother.
As we left, another hiker stopped and asked, "Did you bring all these into the world?" A strange question, I thought; when we affirmed his suspicions he looked puzzled but pleased and then declared, "Great! You brought them into the world and now you are bringing them into nature."
