Hot & humid summers have forced me to eliminate all but the most self-sustaining plants. I don't have the time to fool with finicky plants that require lots of upkeep; only masses of drought-tolerant perennials for me.
The 'Becky' shasta daisy (and 2003 Perennial Plant of the Year) is perfect. Not only is is beautiful nestled against the house, it cuts well and multiplies profusely.
