A Special Treat

Although I thoroughly enjoyed my reduced-motherhood-load and the chance to play catch-up for a few days, it has been wonderful to have the kids back. We've spent lots of time exploring outdoors, reading silly books, and romping about the house. Matthew has especially enjoyed having his mentor Stephen back and kisses have been bestowed generously.

Being the Freebie Fanatic that I am, I was thrilled to discover Ben & Jerry's Free Cone Day, especially when I saw sorbet (which is dairy-free) mentioned. It was well worth cruising downtown, searching for a street-side space, and having to parallel park in order to have a special treat.

Andrew chose "chocolate in a pointy cone" and immediately set to work. I don't think I heard a word from him until it was completely consumed.

Stephen, with his Berry Berry Extraordinary, took a more leisurely approach. He got both a cup and cone, eating the latter first before taking a spoon to the raspberry-blueberry sorbet. I bet he spent a good 30 minutes eating that single scoop.

I think this was Matthew's first experience with a frozen treat.
It's certainly not a hunk of meat, but he slowly acclimated himself and ate a little (Andrew and I finished the rest).

I refrained from trying any nut-laden concoctions and stuck with my old-standby (one can never go wrong with Mint Chocolate Chunk).
