Things have been a little out of hand lately. There's been an inordinate amount of grumbling and complaining, whining and fighting, mostly on the part of the children. Disobedience seems to rise directly in relation to the lack of time spent outdoors. A remedy was in order.
Much to the dismay of the children (really, no sarcasm this time),
we took a break from "school" yesterday and I sent Andrew and Stephen outside. Stephen planted "apple trees"

and they built a garage with scrap lumber. No action shots of Andrew as he seemed to spend his time running and roaming all over the yard, constantly playing out "Sticker and his friends meet the Rats of NIMH."

Matthew and I came and went as chores dictated.

He seems to have an unhealthy interest in our ditches which makes outdoor time less than pleasant for me.
All told, they were out almost 5 hours. We all needed it.
