It was one of those weeks when I felt the hospital should have discharged me with a standard issue hazmat suit and referee shirt.
Friday brought relief, however. The sun was shining. The children asked to play outside (rather than me forcing them to do so). I finally got some tasks accomplished around the house. To celebrate, we took advantage of Sonic's Happy Hour to indulge in Cherry Limeades.
There are just times when you feel the Lord's favor. Doug could not understand my excitement, but when have I ever found 5 cherries?
Saturday is the boys' favorite day of the week as Daddy doesn't have to work. This Saturday morning was extra special as there was a parade for the annual Red Bank Jubilee complete with a host of loud emergency vehicles, campaining local politicians, and numerous ball teams.
Two years ago we went and Andrew was absolutely terrified of the Shriners in their miniature cars ("shriney dehicles"), making wild figure 8s through the streets and honking their horns. It turns out he had reason to be scared as they crashed into the crowds a few weeks later. That incident must have forced them to tone down their show, but the damage was done. Andrew took a step back and clutched my hand each time he saw another car approaching.
In actuality, Andrew is gone to Mississippi for a week with the grandparents. The reports are that he is having a wonderful time. He doesn't have to share the outdoor vehicles, he caught 2 fish and a turtle while fishing with grandpa, and grandma bought him a pair of Levis and a Carhart sweatshirt. But best of all, Aunt Sara brought him a harmonica - definitely an outside toy!
