Sun, glorious sun!
With the wet weather that has been our life for what seems like forever, I had my doubts about today. And while we woke up to rain, it also came with a brisk wind that blew away any lingering drops and ushered in beautiful fluffy clouds.
We headed up to road for Dollar Days at the Knoxville Zoo.
The "Are-they-all-yours" question was replaced today with questions of multiples: "Are any of them twins?" "Are there triplets?" "How many twins do you have?"
Entrance at the zoo was capped at 10,000 and I was terrified of losing a child in the crowd so insisted that the boys were green shirts and the girls had similar shirts as well. The matching clothes combined with their close size confused people apparently.
But the scheme worked pretty well. I was able to spot my kids and count heads.
There was only one lost child. I turned my back on Katherine to talk to a zoo keeper, and just as I thought I should probably turn back around to check on her, I was tapped on the shoulder and asked if a little girl with a big tear on her cheek was mine.
Someone later explained: "She wandered off and was pretty upset, and I told the employee 'Her mom has a bunch of boys all wearing green.'"
I prayed for a fun day where we could all just enjoy being together, and it was answered beyond measure.
