Our Weekly Co-op

I'm thankful for this group of other homeschooling families that we meet with once a week.

I like getting a little break, talking to other female adults, and learning from someone else's teaching style.

Something makes me think I should sit in Stephen's class more often.

Conversations with the Male Chauvinist

Stephen:  Are there Cub Scouts for girls?

Me:  Well, there are Girl Scouts and another group called American Heritage Girls.

Stephen:  What do they do?

Me:  I don't really know.

Stephen:  Maybe lay around and eat cookies.

Riding

We are so proud of this boy.

He finally overcame his fears and discovered the joy of riding.  As he explained, "God answered my prayers.  When I started to pedal and felt scared, I prayed to God that I would have courage, and God answered my prayer."

Full Steam Ahead

I love watching this boy ride.

He's tough and not at all afraid to crash; actually, I think he does it on purpose.

I'm just glad I don't have any cactuses in the yard.

My Scouts

I promise to do my best,
To do my duty to God and my country,
To help other people, and
To obey the Law of the Pack.

Rats!

Blogger and I are having a rocky relationship lately.  All attempts to post pictures for the last 10 days or so have failed except for the random shot on Stephen's birthday (I actually tried to upload three different pictures but only the second one worked!).  Some counseling may be needed.

Enough Already

I must come back reality.

Though it's easy to mentally travel back to the beach as I view, edit, and re-edit photos, the truth is that I am back home and there are things to do.

Like that giant pile of clothes to fold.

And lesson plans to make.

And floors to mop.

So here's the last hurrah.

Goodbye IOP!

Let the Boys Play

Lest anyone think that only Josie expolored the shore, let me clarify.

The boys were around though so occupied with cousin play that I saw very little of them.

They were busy, busy, busy.

They terrorized sea gulls.

There were well-planned military attacks

in well-constructed forts.

And sometimes two-year-olds just need their own place to play.

And what's a trip to the beach without just sitting in the waves

or testing a boogies board, oblivious to lurking dangers?

But there was down time, too, especially when the weather turned.

And sometimes one needs to reflect

or take a breather

before it's back to work again.
